Privacy Policy

Who this policy covers

This policy covers Gwisted, an independent gaming project. It does not cover the external publishers or game services we link to. Their privacy policies apply when you visit them.

Account and profile information

When you sign up, Gwisted uses Supabase for authentication and database services. Account information includes your email address and authentication credentials handled by the authentication service. Profile fields include your display name, optional username, biography, avatar reference and selected games. We no longer collect age. Age information supplied through an earlier version may remain in your private account record; contact us to request its removal. We also store account roles and account timestamps.

Depending on the features you use, we store followed games, training progress, improvement-plan summaries, and game-usage summaries. Guide contributors may also have drafts, submissions, and review history associated with their account. We use this information to provide the requested features, secure accounts, and review contributions.

Community and profile visibility

Community is available to signed-in members. Your display name, username, photo, bio and selected games are visible to other signed-in community members. Your email address, device activity and improvement data are not included in community profiles. We store messages, posts, replies, reactions, attachment references and timestamps. Realtime presence shows approximate online activity.

Uploaded images are stored with Cloudflare R2 and delivered through public image links. Anyone with an image link may view or copy it, even without a Gwisted account. Do not upload confidential images. Deleting a message clears its text, hides its attachments and requests deletion of the attached image files. Failed image deletions are retried and may take longer to complete. Cached copies and copies others have saved may remain. Contact us for image-removal requests.

Notifications

Your account has a private inbox for mentions, replies and game announcements. Selected games determine which game announcements you receive. You can change notification preferences using the bell menu. Device notifications require your explicit permission. If you enable them, we store your browser's push endpoint and subscription encryption keys, and use your browser's push service to deliver alerts. These services may process technical delivery information. Alerts use generic text, but may be visible on your lock screen. You can disable device notifications in Gwisted or your browser settings without disabling your in-app inbox.

Cookies and local storage

Gwisted uses authentication cookies to maintain sign-in sessions. Browser local storage also holds feature data such as improvement questionnaires, plans, recheck results, and device-tracking preferences or cached usage summaries. These are functional storage uses, separate from advertising cookies.

You can clear cookies and site storage in your browser. This may sign you out or remove locally saved plans. Clearing browser storage does not automatically delete records already saved to your account.

Faster repeat visits

Your browser may keep site assets, recently viewed public guides, selected-game preferences and a short-lived copy of recent chat history on this device. Account-specific copies are isolated by account and cleared when you sign out. Clearing site storage removes these local copies. Sign out when using a shared device.

Optional device usage tracking

In the Android experience, game-usage tracking requires opting in and granting Android usage access. It reads usage information for tracked game applications, including playtime and recent activity. Summaries may be cached on your device and synced to your account for dashboards and profile features. You can revoke usage access in Android settings; revoking access does not automatically erase previously synced information.

Advertising and personalization

Gwisted is preparing for advertising. AdSense is not activated by default. When advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies, device identifiers, IP addresses, and information about interactions to serve, measure, and protect ads. Third-party advertising cookies may support personalized advertising based on visits to this and other websites.

Where required, advertising storage and personalization depend on your choices through a consent-management platform. Non-personalized ads can still use cookies for purposes such as measurement and fraud prevention. Gwisted does not pass your email address, private profile fields, training plans, or device-usage summaries as ad-targeting parameters.

Analytics, hosting, and external content

Gwisted uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, page navigation and interactions. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes information such as page URLs, referrers, browser and device details, and approximate location. Gwisted does not send account email addresses, private profile fields or message contents as analytics parameters. Hosting, authentication, and database providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, request details, and security logs to operate and protect their services. External images and links may connect your browser to third-party servers. Optional gaming dashboards summarize your own usage data; they are not advertising analytics.

Sharing, retention, and security

Service providers, including Supabase and the hosting provider, process information needed to operate Gwisted. Information may be processed outside your country. Authorized administrators and reviewers can access information needed for support, security, and editorial review.

Account and feature data are kept while needed to provide those features, handle requests, and maintain security. Backup copies or records needed for legal obligations may remain after a deletion request. No fixed automatic deletion period is promised. We use access controls, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Privacy choices

Edit your shared profile details in your profile, clear site storage through your browser, and revoke Android usage access through device settings. The footer's Privacy choices link will open advertising consent controls once the consent service is connected; until then it leads to this section. No advertising consent is assumed from continued browsing.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your information, or withdraw consent. These rights and any exceptions depend on applicable law.

Feedback

You can send feedback without an account. We store your feedback type, message, submission time and optional email to review issues and suggestions or contact you about your message. Feedback is private to Gwisted administrators. To limit spam, we use a hashed network identifier rather than storing your raw IP address with your feedback. Short-lived rate-limit records expire and are cleaned up as new submissions arrive. Contact us to request removal of your feedback.

Changes

We will update this policy when our practices change and revise the date above. Review it when choosing to use new account or advertising features.
